Without Purpose

One of the biggest mistakes songwriters make is starting with nothing more than a burst of emotion. Inspiration feels strong for a moment, but without a deeper reason behind the song, that spark often fizzles out.

Purpose is what carries an idea beyond good intentions—it gives weight, authority, and momentum to your writing. When you write about what truly matters to you—subjects you care about deeply—you’ll find your songs have more staying power and impact.

Finding Purpose

Do you lose interest in your song ideas or, have difficulty in finishing them?

The most common cause for this is a lack of a defined purpose. If your song lacks purpose (a good reason to write it) and, is only fueled by feelings or emotions, you'll only write when you feel like it.

But when you anchor your writing in passion and direct it toward a real audience, your songs gain focus, direction, and power. That’s when songwriting shifts from a hobby to a craft.
